Students Selected for Michigan School Band and Orchestra All-State Ensembles

Second Chance Mushers Rescue visited Long Lake Elementary School and delivered books for the school's One Book One School program! Long Lake families will be reading the book, The Adventures of a South Pole Pig by Chris Kurtz together as a school

Twenty six Traverse City West Senior High School students participated in the Michigan Thespian Festival in Lansing at the end of December. Of those students, four acting students, two musical theatre students, and two technical theatre students were offered over $1.8 million dollars in scholarships to attend the colleges that were in attendance and interviewed/auditioned them. Congratulations to Riley Jass, Logan Newcomb, Janie Sulecki and Riley Fontenot (acting), Lexi Gratton and Hannah Johnson (musical theatre), and Ashley Rinehart and Brayden Smith (technical theatre)!

Congratulations to Mr. Schafer and the Traverse City East Middle School Chamber Choir for winning the 106KHQ Annual Holiday Choir Competition in the K-8 category! They will receive a $1,000 donation to their school’s music program.

Traverse Heights Elementary School kicked off their new Student Mentor Program! Their 4th and 5th graders began paving the way for the next leaders and recently met their mentees.

Congratulations to Traverse City Central High School hockey for winning the 2022 Scott Miller Memorial Invitational with a 4-1 win over Toledo St. Francis. This is the first time they have won this tournament since 2012!

Step Up Northern Michigan and all of the wonderful volunteers and donors who hosted a Santa's Workshop at Traverse City High School. Students were invited to select gifts from a large selection of donated items. We are so grateful for your generosity!

Subie Guys, Inc. of Traverse City for dropping off warm winter coats, snow pants, and personal hygiene kits for our students. This is the second round of winter gear from their clothing drive!

Cherryland Electric Cooperative for selecting the TCAPS SSN program as the recipient of a Cherryland Cares Grant for $2,000. Each month, Cherryland Electric Cooperative members have the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar on their electric bill. That money goes into the Cherryland Cares fund, which local nonprofits can apply for. The funds received from the Cherryland Cares grant will provide healthy snacks to help increase cognitive awareness in our students and enable their readiness to learn!

PetSmart Charities for donating 400 stuffed animals to TCAPS to share with students in need. For every stuffed toy purchased in their stores, 10% of the sale is donated to PetSmart Charities which helps pets find forever homes. We know the students that received these adorable pets are so happy to have them!

OMPT Specialists Physical Therapy for positively impacting our school community. In addition to adopting a TCAPS family for the holidays, OMPT delivered bulk snacks, winter gear, blankets, pajamas, and much more to help us ensure that all TCAPS students are ready for learning this year!
